Our dog vaccine recommendations are in accordance with the latest guidelines set by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). These clinical guidelines combine scientific evidence with expert opinion. They however only make general recommendations. Our veterinarians will evaluate your pet's unique needs and make individualized recommendations for your pet. Vaccines are divided into core vaccines and non-core vaccines. Core vaccines include Canine Distemper Virus (CDV), Canine Parvovirus-2 (CPV-2), and Canine Adenovirus-2 (CAV-2). These vaccines are usually combined in one vaccine loosely called "distemper vaccine". Another core vaccine is the Rabies Virus vaccine.
Non-core vaccines include Bordetella, Canine Parainfluenza, Leptospira, Lyme, and influenza.
In some patients, vaccine titer testing may be recommended in lieu of regular vaccinations. This is usually performed only for certain vaccines.
